Portrait Françoise DÔ

Françoise Dô

August 1st to August 31st 2020

Author, stage director and actress, Françoise Dô learned drama at Cours Florent. She established the company BLEUS ET ARDOISE in 2016, currently in a creation residency at Tropiques Atrium - Scène Nationale. Winner of the emerging young artists competition “En avant la création”, in 2017, she produces her first text “Aliénation(s)” on stage. In 2018, her second text A Parté, winner of the program Écritures de la Cité Internationale des Arts de Paris is published in the Tapuscrits Editions. After a representation during the ZOOM Festival #4 in Théatre Ouvert-Centre National of Dramaturgies Contemporaines and a model presentation in the Vanves theatre, she will then stage it in January 2019 in Tropiques Atrium - Scène Nationale. Her aim is to create plays with a sober, contemporary aesthetic in which the writing and emotions take precedence. Using a creative process imbued with realism, she questions silence in order to explore unspoken in families and in the society. Having a strong interest for empty space theatre, she assists Hassane Kassi Kouyaté in staging L’orchidée Violée by Bernard G. Lagier and 4h du matin by Ernest J.Gaines. A follower of radical theatrical experiences, she is Stéphanie Loïk’s partner for staging. She assists her for the creation of Dix histoires au milieu de nulle part, theatrical adaptation of La Fin de l’homme rouge by Svetlana Alexievitch. In June 2018, she presents a model emerging from this partnership “Reine Pokou”, adapted from the eponymous novel by Véronique Tadjo. Inspired by the choir in ancient Greek theatre, she introduces speech and African tales in the centre of a empty stage carried by contemporary dance. Françoise Dô is part of the group of artists presented in Focus Performing/Art de la scène organised by the French Institute and the Office National de Diffusion Artistique (ONDA) in the National Theatre of Bretagne. In 2019, she is a writer associate in Festival Passages de Metz and collaborates with the Centre Dramatique National de l’Océan Indien. Françoise Dô has already been hosted for a creation residency in Centre Intermondes from the 25th of September to the 4th of October 2019, and she returns in La Rochelle with a new writing project from the 1st to the 31th of August 2020.
